A-Tech Students Prepare for Jobs

Students at the Ashtabula County Technical & Career Campus (A-Tech) are gaining meaningful experience through practice job interviews. Approximately 200 seniors participated in 20 minute interview sessions with business professionals on the school’s campus April 14th. The professionals provided candid feedback and advice for life.
“I was impressed by how well all the students interviewed,” said John Engelmann, Nurse Manager at ACMC. “A-Tech has really done a nice job in enhancing their programs. Very pleased to see this happening for our county and our students!”
“Every single interview was very good. I enjoyed each and every interview,” said John Wilson, owner of Snyder’s Collision Center.
“All were genuine and discussed serious career choices. Several were outstanding, very focussed and mature beyond their age,” said Lori McLaughlin, owner of Biscotti’s Restaurant.
Senior Alex Kennedy, who is planning to attend the University of Akron to pursue a career in Engineering expressed gratitude for his interview experience. “Mr. Sodd gave me great advice for pursuing my career. I feel like I know more about how to take the next steps in life. It was a great interview and learning experience,” he said.
Business professionals who volunteered to conduct interviews with the students included: VJ Sodd (ASHTA Chemicals), Jackie Bissett, Jodi Heath, John Engelmann (ACMC), Pam Canter & April George (Alline Salon Group), Lori McLaughlin (Biscotti’s Restaurant), Anna Altman (Chromaflo Technologies), David Miller (DMG), Stanley Glasky (JCI Contractors), Ned Sherry (Kinetico Inc.), Paul Shellhammer (Kinder Morgan Pinney Dock), Luke Jernigan (LJ Web Services), Greg King (Plastpro Inc.), John Wilson (Snyder’s Collision Center), Shaun Buehner (South County Ambulance District), Ryan Cochran (Union Industrial Contractors), Mariella Platano (Ultimate Appearance), Rosmarie Eldred (Western Reserve Animal Clinic), Stephanie Fusco (Worthington Industries), and David Nolan, (Nolan Door and Hardware).
The A-Tech Career Education program provides career-focused education services to students at A-Tech as well as students in grades K–12 at school districts throughout Ashtabula County through partnerships with community members and local businesses.
